Unity Theatre Ensemble opened its 2003 Season
with Loften Mitchell's "Tell Pharaoh," February 20,
21, 22, 23 at 7:30 P.M. with matinee performances on February
22nd and 23rd at 3 p.m.
According to Ralph E. Greene, Artistic Director,
"Tell Pharaoh is a concert drama which historically recounts
the African American's sojourn in America utilizing Harlem as
the hub of Black America. It recounts his trials and tribulations,
his despair, his hope and dreams and the promise of an improved
tomorrow." Loften Mitchell states that "Tell Pharaoh
is "an impassioned cry for liberation, for justice and freedom
throughout the worldwherever there is political, economic or
cultural enslavement."
The members of the cast were Thomasina Clarke,
Eddie Webb, Bonnie Harmon, Herman Gordon, Karen Matkins, Don
McClendon, Karl Clark and Erica Sutherlin. John Selders is Musical
Director. Choreography is by Andrea Smythe. Bill Murphy is set
designer with costumes by Bonnie Harmon, lights by Joe P. Hodge
and sound by Willie Obermoeller.
