According to Ralph E. Greene, Artistic Director of Unity Theatre Ensemble, The Amen Corner is a story about hypocrisy and lies and how they destroy relationships and lives. To quote one of the characters in the play, The Amen Corner asks the question "If you don't love your brother who you can see, how you going to love God who you ain't seen?" This simple yet profound question places a mirror before all people and relationships. This question is surveyed and answered by the story of Margaret Alexander, the pastor of a small Harlem storefront church in 1955, her family and members of her congregation.

The cast of The Amen Corner included Bonnie M. Harmon as Margaret Alexander, Edward L. Brown as Luke Alexander, Malik Anthony as David Alexander, Renee Matkins as Sister Odessa, Thomasina Clarke as Sister Moore, Erica Sutherlin as Sister Boxer, Herman Gordon as Brother Boxer, Olivia Neal as Mrs. Ida Jackson/Sister Sally, Keven Adams, as Brother Washington, and Carol Saxton as Sister Douglas.

Set design was by Bill Murphy, lights by Mark Schilling, costumes by Bonnie M. Harmon, music by Reginald Thomas and sound by Willie Obermoeller.
